What We Believe

Statement of Faith

We believe there is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. He is a Triune God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed the works of God, died on the cross for our sins, bodily resurrected from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator and preparing to return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He is the only true God and the only way to salvation. He presently indwells all believers as the living and ever-present Lord.

We believe eternal salvation to be found exclusively through the Person and work of Jesus Christ received as a free gift of God’s grace alone. It involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, Who by His own blood, obtained eternal redemption for the believer. This free gift of eternal life is received through faith alone, apart from human works, and by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that all people are God’s creation in His own image and the crowning work of all that He created. By his free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. All people inherit this curse and are born in sin. Only the grace of God can restore man’s relationship to God and enable him to fulfill His creative purpose. Man’s worth is evident in that God created him in His own image and in that Christ died for him. Every man possesses dignity and is worthy of love and respect.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and the third Person of the Holy Trinity. He inspired men to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts us of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. He calls people to the Savior Jesus Christ and effects regeneration. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers and bestows spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He empowers every believer to be conformed to the image of Christ.

We believe the Holy Bible in the original manuscripts to be originally given by God as divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and the only supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. It is God’s revelation of Himself to man.

We believe the church to be the body of Christ. It is visibly expressed through a local body of baptized believers who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel. The church operates in the love of the Father; at the leadership of the Spirit and under the Lordship of Jesus Christ Who is the Head of the body. The Church is essential for the Christian’s spiritual growth, service and witness.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The saved are resurrected into eternal life with God and the lost are resurrected unto judgment for eternal damnation and in the lake of fire created for Satan, his angels and all unbelievers.

We believe Christian education, having its foundation in the Creator/creature relationship taught in the Scriptures, is a process wherein a child is nurtured by instruction in the truth of God and human knowledge is leavened by that truth. The responsibility for education rests upon the parents (Deut. 6:6-9; Eph. 6:1-4). They may delegate a part of this process to an institution to help carry forward their God-given task, but must remain fully responsible. The curriculum of Bridgeway Christian Academy will be continually designed to orient the child to the Christian Life.
